I am writing to report a serious fraud in Li Tai Pe restaurant (Luzern) on Dec 6th, which we would never believe this type of fraud could ever happen at such high end restaurant in Switzerland before this terrible experience happened. To make the long story short: we (4 people) were invited by our Swiss partner to visit Switzerland btw Dec 4--7th. This was our first trip to Switzerland, so our partner arranged a tour guide, a driver and a car to drive us around Zurich city, in which our final stop happened to be Luzern. When we were in Luzern, we found Li Tai Pe restaurant, we were craving for Chinese food after eating western food for 3 days, we walked into the restaurant immediately and ordered our food. The food and service were not so impressive, but this is surely not the reason I wrote to you today. When the bill came (please see attachment), it shows: SF185.7. but the waiter (who had a Asian face, but only spoke English to us) told me that on top of this SF185.7, we need to pay some additional fee.. since my friends and I were very tired and we were not alert.. so I gave him 200 SF, he brought me 40 cents back i asked him again why, he said I have to pay some additional fee.. he looked very serious, certain and pushy so we took the 40 cents and thought could be the tax , and left the restaurant. When we arrived our hotel, I looked at the bill, it clearly shows SF185.7 (incl.13% tax). Honestly, I would have tipped them if I found the service was good, but we didn't like their service at all. During our meal(which last NOT more than 1 hour), the waitress came to our table twice to ask us if we finished...also, when i explained to my own friends that Li Tai Pe refers to a famous Chinese poet Li bai because he has another name called Tai Pe.. an Indian waiter who speaks little Chinese cut in our conversation twice when he heard Tai Pe, and corrected me twice : this is Li Tai Pe, not Tai Pei city.... we found it was rude to interfere our conversation, not to mention he has no idea of Chinese history. I asked our tour guide to check with the restaurant what the additional charge was about... please see reply in the attachment. . Quote: "the manager know that there is something wrong and for sure the cheeting btw staff, but he can't find the proof" unquote. after this,we never heard from them If this is not the additional charge, it is clearly a fraud. We are not happy with restaurant reply. Since we have not had proper answer from Li Tai Pe, I would like to report to you about this experience, we hope you could look into this case as it brought shame on beautiful Luzerne city. Moreover, Li Tai Pe is considered as a famous and luxury restaurant with legendary history, this thing should not happen there. I sincerely hope you could also bring this to the owner of the restaurant, which we believe is a Swiss person to look into this case one more time.
